"Like many children, art was my first canvas of self-expression. But unlike my peers, I discovered an extraordinary passion for the arts that set my heart ablaze! My family, teachers, siblings, and friends all recognized my artistic fire and encouraged me, often asking for my drawings or paintings as I ventured into the oil painting world. I wished to connect with local artists for advice, but shyness held me back. Some friends suggested I attend art school, but at the age of 64, the idea seemed daunting—both in terms of time and finances. Others recommended sip-and-paint classes, which sounded fun, yet I yearned for something more profound, a richer artistic experience. Then, like a spark igniting a flame, I discovered Bob Ross' *The Joy of Painting* on Tubi and thought, "This is it! This is my calling! I need to take a Bob Ross class!" The search for local classes began.

 

I found one class available only during the tourist season, another two hours away, and the last offered sporadically. I made a bold decision: I took a week off to immerse myself in the Bob Ross Workshop and Gallery in sunny New Smyrna, Florida. That week was nothing short of magical! Not only did my painting skills blossom, but I also embraced the joy of painting that Bob Ross radiated. To my absolute delight, they invited me to become an instructor! Now, I’m building friendships and sharing the joy of painting with others, just as Bob wanted.
